As a graduate student at UTK, I was engaged in numerous outreach activities and I continue to support outreach events at MSU. Science communication endeavors are critical in today's time as we work in transdisciplinary science. I was actively involved with the Tennessee Science Olympiad State tournaments for 4 years (2015-2019) where I have supervised an “Experimental Design” session for middle- and high- school students with faculty from the Biochemistry, Cellular and Molecular Biology department.

Furthermore, under the supervision of my major professor, Dr. Jennifer DeBruyn, I have volunteered as an instructor for 4 years (2015-2019) at KidsU “Forensic Chemistry Camp” organized by the Dept. of Chemistry at UTK. I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing the inquisitiveness of young kids doing science!

I have also served as the Event Coordinator of the Indian Students’ Association “Manthan” at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville from 2015 - 2016.

These experiences have been extremely rewarding as a way to give back to the community which has given me so much.

To improve my ability to communicate science to a wider audience, I had taken part at the 3 Minute thesis competition in 2018 and bagged the 3rd place at the University of Tennessee campus wide Finals!

My talk was titled:

Growing Green: Biodegradable Plastic Mulch Films for Sustainable Agriculture
